Title: IoT Registry and Protocol Bridge
ABSTRACT
The technical study aims to replace Google Cloud IoT Core with an alternative solution, while staying within the Google Cloud Platform. The significance of the project lies in the application of skills acquired during the MSc, as well as executing a real-world task without compromising service quality.
The technical study focuses on exploring the Internet of Things (IoT) with an emphasis on the concept of network layers. Understanding the underlying structure that the broker software would work upon to explain the software. This approach aided the methodology of combined industry-standard practices with academic insights, using the former to guide "what" to do and the latter to explain the "why." This would build a comprehensive picture of IoT and the MQTT Broker.
The final implementation of the MQTT Broker to replace Google Cloud IoT Core service has resulted in a tailored, scalable solution. This broker has successfully met the organization's specific needs. It demonstrated improved control and resource optimization through enhancing system performance. The broker also paves the way for future enhancements, such as further integrations and the potential use of AI-driven analytics for deeper data insights.
